| Zusammenfassung: | A method of biologically treating water and more particularly, a process for nitrifying and denitrifying water includes employing a continuous aeration mode and a sequential aeration mode. In the continuous aeration mode, nitrification and denitrification reactions occur simultaneously in the water. The continuous aeration mode occurs when the nitrate concentration of the water reaches a predetermined low threshold. The sequential aeration mode occurs when the nitrate concentration reaches a predetermined high threshold. When in the sequential aeration mode, aeration is ceased when the ammoniac concentration reaches a predetermined low threshold and aeration is activated when the ammoniac concentration reaches a predetermined high threshold. |
