The regulator (10) has a cylindrical passage (24) connecting a high pressure chamber (20) with a low pressure chamber (22) and restricted with respect to the high pressure chamber. The regulator is implemented without seat. A regulating function is achieved such that a head area of a spring-loaded regulating body (30) is movable between a high pressure chamber and a passage to adjust the flow cross section in a transient area between the high pressure chamber and the passage, where minimum or no flow is obtained by immersing the head area into the passage in a flow direction.
