Zusammenfassung:	A holding element (1) for use in packaging a product comprising a plurality of components (31,32,33) having different size and/or geometry in a packaging unit (2) and a method for making it are disclosed. In use the holding element is attached to an inner bottom surface (20) of the packaging unit in such a way that the holding element is in contact with at least one of the components of the product. The holding element is made from a paper-based material by folding and/or stacking and comprises protrusions (111,112,121,122), recesses and/or slots extending in one or more planes (A,B,C,D), which is/are parallel with the bottom side of the holding element. The holding element may comprise a locking section (13,14,153) or a locking element for retaining it in a folded state. A packaging and a method for packaging a product using such a holding element are also disclosed.
