Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to mowers (1) having a safety system (7) to prevent obstacles (10), such as animals, located in the field from being hit by cutters (4) of the mower (1). The safety system (7) comprises a control unit (8) and at least one detector (9) to detect the obstacle (10) and then provide a warning signal (11) to the control unit (8), when the obstacle (10) is detected. The control unit (8) provides a separation signal (13) to at least one safety device (12) in response to receiving the warning signal (11), and the at least one safety device (12) causes separation between the obstacle (10) and the at least one cutter (4) in response to receiving the separation signal (13). The safety device (12) may be at least one shield (17) which is movable between a retracted position and a protecting position in which it extends in front of the at least one cutter (4) to prevent contact between the at least one cutter (4) and the obstacle (10).
