A pad (14) adjacent the food (12) comprises microwave radiation transparent hydrophobic liquid grease adsorbing materials that are capable of holding the amount of grease in the food (12) when it is melted; and a vapor tight microwave radiation transparent enclosure (16) surrounding the pad (14) and food (12) includes means (20) for venting steam from the enclosure (16) as the food (12) is cooked.
