A bag support and delivering apparatus has a tube or a bushing 3, which is carried through openings 9, 11 opposite one another in a stack of bags 1 in order to support these. A collar at the rear end of the bushing is in removable engagement with a support element 7. The front end of the bushing has a flange 5, which is dimensioned so that it can easily pass through a relatively large opening 9 in the top part of a bag front wall, when this is pulled in a forward direction. The said flange 5 is also dimensioned so that it opposes a passage through a smaller opening 11 in the top part of the bag rear wall, so that the bag can be held in an open position for filling with goods. When the bag is filled, it is released from the bushing by pulling the bag backwards with a force sufficient to distend the small rear opening 11 to such an extent that the flange 5 can pass through the opening, so that the rear wall of the filled bag is released. When all the bags have been removed, the bushing can be disengaged from the support element, and a new stack of bags can then be pushed in over the bushing, following which this can again be made to engage with the support element. The apparatus described, which is of simple construction, therefore means that a bag that is removed from the apparatus is automatically opened for filling with goods.
