It may be stuck onto an inner surface of a tumble drier (see Specification 1383748). The sheet may be a crepe paper, film, foam or sponge. The adhesive is preferably pressure sensitive, based on rubber or a synthetic latex and applied to cover the whole side, although it may be spot or strip printed. The exemplified conditioners render fabrics soft and/or static free but the fabric may also be rendered wrinkle free, perfumed, brightened and resistant to bacteria and mildew. The specified conditioners are an alkylene glycol, glycerol or other polyol polymers and block copolymers and condensates thereof with -fatty alcohols and fatty acids, higher fatty acid amides and alkanolamides, watersoluble alkali metal, ammonium or magnesium salts such as fatty alcohol sulphates and sulphonates, alkyl benzene sulphonates, fatty acid acyl taurides and irethionates, fatty acid monoglyceride sulphates, fatty acid sarcosides and glycines, stearates and laurates e.g. triethanol amine laurate, tetraalkyl ammonium salts e.g. halides, acetates, benzoates, saccharinates, alkosulphates and bisulphates and, trialkyl benzyl ammonium halides, alkyl pyridine, isoquinolinium and monpholinium salts, alkyl imidazolines e.g. 1-methyl-1-stearyl aminoethyl-2- stearyl imidazolinium methosulphate, higher alkyl amines or oxides thereof, and alkyl guanidine salts. The coating may be a solid which softens or melts in the damp and/or heated dryer. The conditioner is applied as a solution, emulsion dispersion or melt by roll coating, dip coating or spraying. A plurality of layers may be applied. Application of a melt is followed by cooling. A coating of 0.0005 to 0.3 cm thick is produced. The conditioner layer may be over coated with a layer less than 0.01 cm thick of petroleum wax or a Sheet of waxed paper, creped paper, release coated paper or polyethylene film may be applied to the conditioner layer. This allows the sheet, which is preferably in tape form, to be wrapped around a tubular mandrel for convenience of storage. The roll of tape may be mounted in a dispenser provided with a serrated edge to facilitate tearing of a section of the tape. The conditioning of nylon fabrics whilst they are being tumble dried is disclosed.
