Zusammenfassung:1352378 Dimethylaminomethylbenzopyrones RECORDATI SA CHEMICAL & PHARMACEUTICAL CO 19 April 1971 [19 Oct 1970] 23454/71 Heading C2C A process for preparing a substituted or unsubstituted dimethylaminomethylbenzopyrone or a salt thereof comprises reacting a halomethylbenzopyrone with dimethylamine in an aqueous medium free from organic solvent and at a temperature not higher than 30‹ C., and optionally converting the product into a salt. The initial concentration of the dimethylamine in the aqueous medium is preferably at least 30% by weight, and the amount of dimethylamine used is suitably at least twice the stoichiometric amount. An example describes the preparation of 3-methyl-7-methoxy-8-dimethylaminomethyl flavone.
