The active cpd. is prepd. by reducing a cpd. of formula (II) (where Y is O, S or an imino gp) in the presence of a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid with nascent hydrogen and cyclising the cpd. obtained, which is of formula (II); -NO2 is -NH2 , in an acid medium.
