A neutral denture soak composition comprises an oxidant, a carbonate or bicarbonate, an organic acid and an acid anhydride, these four ingredients all being water-soluble solids. The composition may also contain a surface active agent and a dye which is decolorized by oxidation. In examples the oxidant is a mixture of potassium persulphate and sodium perborate; the carbonate or bicarbonate is sodium bicarbonate, sometimes with magnesium carbonate added; the acid is citric acid or malic acid; the anhydride is succinic anhydride, boric anhydride or maleic anhydride; the surface active agent is sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate or sodium methylnaphthalene sulphonate with an alkylphenoxypoly(ethyleneoxy)ethanol added and the dye is Acid Red No. 14. The composition also includes flavour oils. The composition may be used as powder or tablets. The sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate also acts as a lubricant when the composition is tableted.
