Novel diisoeugenol derivatives of the general formula wherein R is lower di-(C 1-5 alkyl)amino, piperidino, morpholino or N1-benzoyl-piperazino and A is a C 2-4 straight- or branched-chain alkylene radical, and acid addition salts and quaternary ammonium derivatives thereof are prepared by reaction of diisoeugenol with a compound of the general formula RAX, wherein X is a halogen atom, in the presence of an acid-binding agent, followed optionally by conversion of the product to an acid addition salt or quaternary ammonium derivative thereof. Pharmaceutical compositions having hypertensive and spasmolytic activity comprise, as active ingredient, a diisoeugenol derivative of the first general formula above in associaton with a pharmaceutical carrier and/or excipient.
