Large detached tanks having a diameter of, for example, 10-20 m are often constructed with a circumferential wall of concrete slab elements 2, which are placed edge to edge in a circle and are held together by means of one or more clamping bands 6, the joints between the wall elements being sealed with suitable joint fillers which lend the structure a monolithic character. There are often problems, however, with the durability of the joints, and in the invention these problems are overcome by the fact that between the edge faces 10 of the wall elements, which edge faces are tailored to run parallel to each other in each joint, a strip 12 made of a semi- hard synthetic rubber material is fitted, which, when the clamping bands 6 are strongly tightened, is compressed to execute a total and lasting seal.
