Catalyst, especially for hydrogenation of organic compounds containing functional groups, contains nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) on a support containing titanium dioxide (TiO2). The catalyst is reduced and contains metal crystallites with a crystallite size less than 120 Angstrom . In the reduced and passivated state, the catalyst contains 20-80 wt.% Ni and Co and 10-80 wt.% TiO2. After reducing again for 1 hour at 100 degrees C, the degree of reduction is at least 55%. An Independent claim is also included for the production of this catalyst. |
