Zusammenfassung:927,709. Box pallets for handling loads. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 8, 1961 [Oct. 27, 1960], No. 37020/60. Class 78 (4). A box-pallet constructed of a resilient thermoplastic organic polymer has a conical outlet portion 2 (Fig. 1), surrounded by downward extensions 4 of the substantially flat walls of the pallet, forming a skirt to receive a rigid base 5 with surfaces, such as slots 6, 7, for receiving the tines of a fork truck. The body 1 of the pallet may be formed of polypropylene, nylon, laminates of polyvinylchloride, glass fibre/polyester laminates, or rubber/resin compositions. The walls may be ribbed. The base 5 may be of galvanized or stainless steel, light aluminium alloy, or a rigid plastic material. The conical base 2 may be of the same material as the container and may comprise a removable funnel 29 (Fig. 2a), clamped between die-cast aluminium alloy rings 32, 27, of which the latter is screwed on to a flange 26 on the container body 25. Alternatively, the end fitting 29 may be fitted to the neck of the pallet by a band similar to those used for securing drum lids. The conical fitting 29 may be of metal or of a plastic material other than that used for the body of the pallet. The outlet 3 (Fig. 1), from the container may be rectangular. When the outlet is circular it may be closed by a polythene sleeve 88 (Fig. 2b), provided with draw strings (not shown) and clamped in the neck of the opening by a spring steel ring 35. The skirt 4 may be integral with the walls 1, as shown, or may be welded to them. The pallet may be fitted with lifting lugs. A sampling tube 41 (Fig. 3a), can also serve to admit air to promote discharge of the container.
