Zusammenfassung: | The invention comprises triazole polymers containing recurring units of formula where R and R1 are divalent cyclic radicals which may have single, multiple or fused rings and R2 is a phenyl group. The polymers are prepared by reacting a hydrazide polymer having recurring units of formula where R, R1 and R2 are as above (see Specification 884,973), with an excess of aniline in the presence of a dehydrating agent (e.g. polyphosphoric acid at elevated temperature. Polymers prepared in examples are poly-3,5-(1,3 - 1,4 - phenylene) - 4 - phenylene) - 4 - phenyl - 1,2,4-triazole, poly-3,5-[(1,3-phenylene), 2,6-naphthylene)] 4-phenyl 1,2,4-triazole, poly-3,5[(1,3-phenylene), (4,4-diphenylene)] 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazole. The polymers may have inherent viscosities of at least 0.5 and may be formed into fibres and films. |
