Zusammenfassung: | 947,026. Scavenging and oil recovery vessels. T.F.A. THUNE. Aug. 28, 1962 [Nov. 16, 1961; March 26, 1962], No. 32904/62. Headings B7A and B7M. A device for collecting flotsam, especially oil spillage, and separating and recovering same, comprises a marine vessel (consisting of pontoons 1 joined by a perforated bottom plate 4) with a spade-shaped means 3, 5, 9 forming a skimming board 9 which, due to the forward motion of the vessel, catches and leads the flotsam and a certain amount of water backwards (over a weir 11) into a chamber 7 in the vessel, the perforated bottom 4 of which allows the water to escape while the flotsam floats up in the chamber for recovery therefrom. The chamber 7 has bulkheads 12 below the water line 6, and a funnel 13 with a shield 14 and an upper rear edge near the water line 6, for receiving the oil-water mixture which may be delivered over the weir 11 by motordriven paddles 34. A pump 21 connected by a line 17 into the funnel at 18 delivers recovered liquid into a line 23. In Fig. 4 the vessel 1, 9, 13 delivers recovered oil through line 23 into a settling tank 42 in a boat 41, and is hauled via oil booms 38 by boats 40, the booms being clamped in flaps 36 (Fig. 1), on the front of the pontoons 1. Fig. 5 shows the vessel 9, 13, 17 tied to an accompanying boat 41. |
