A hard metal shear blade (1), with a V-shaped or arcuate cutting region (2) of tapering cross-section, is made of a hard me with a thermal conductivity of ≥ 85 W/m.K and has, on each side of the tapering cutting region (2), a non-tapering edge regio (3) with an average width (b) of 5-30 % of the total average blade width (B) at this region.
