Zusammenfassung:New preparation of N-(4-fluorophenyl)-N-(1-methylethyl)-2-((5-trifluoromethyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)oxy) acetamide (I) uses an aprotic, aromatic solvent. Preparation of N-(4-fluorophenyl)-N-(1-methylethyl)-2-((5-trifluoromethyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)oxy) acetamide (fluthiamide) (I) comprises: (a) reacting 2-(methylsulphonyl)-5-(trifluoromethyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole with N-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-hydroxy-N-(1-methylethyl) acetamide in the presence of an aqueous alkali and an aprotic, aromatic solvent to form and aqueous phase and an organic phase; (b) acidifying the mixture by addition of a mineral acid; (c) separating the phases; and (d) recovering (I) from the organic phase.
