Mit anorganischen Gelen verdickte Schmiermittel oder Bohrfluessigkeiten fuer Erdbohrungen und ihre Herstellung

A thickened oil comprises an oil, 1-40 per cent by weight of an unshrunken gel of an oxide or a hydroxideof an amphoteric metal, and 2-20 per cent by weight of the gel, of an organic acid containing at least 10 carbon atoms in the molecule. Acids used are phosphinic or phosphonic acids, fatty acids, aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, amino fatty acids, sulphonic acids or naphthenic acids or their chlorinated, sulphurized or phosphorized derivatives. Particular acids mentioned are stearic, oleic and linoleic acids; tetradecane-1-phosphinic, n-octadecane-1-phosphinic, 3, 5-di-isobutylbenzene phosphinic, n-hexadecane phosphinic, methylhexadecane-1-phosphinic, dodecane-1-phosphonic, 10-phenyldecane-1-phosphonic, tetradecane phosphonic and 2, 4-diamylcyclohexane phosphonic acids; octadecenyl succinic acid, 12-amino-stearic acid, petroleum sulphonic acids, Turkey red oil and polyamyl naphthalene sulphonic acids. Oils specified are mineral lubricating oils, vegetable and fish oils, synthetic lubricants such as silicones, polymerized olefins, alkylene glycol polymers, esters of dicarboxylic acids such as bis (2-ethylhexyl) sebacate, and organic phosphates such as tricresyl and trioctyl phosphates; oils such as kerosene, gas oil, fuel oil and the corresponding shale oil fractions may also be used. Gels used may be aerogels or oleogels. Optional additives mentioned are antioxidants, extreme pressure agents, and thickeners such as polymers of methacrylic acid esters and polymers of olefins and diolefins.
