Zusammenfassung: | A fibre-reinforced glass-ceramic matrix composite material has (a) fibres based on silicon carbide or on a composition containing silicon, boron, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon; and (b) a matrix of calcium and barium aluminosilicates with a BaO/(BaO + CaO) molar ratio of 25-55%, the main phases of the matrix being triclinic anorthite and monoclinic celsian. Preferably, the material has either (a) a BaO/(BaO + CaO) molar ratio of 25-35%, corresponding to a wt. ratio of 47-60%, allowing a heat treatment cycle of reduced duration with a thermal expansion coefficient controlled at 4.2 x 10 to 4 x 10/ degrees C; or (b) a BaO/(BaO + CaO) molar ratio of 35-55%, allowing control of the thermal expansion coefficient between 4 x 10 and 3.5 x 10/ degrees C. Also claimed are processes for producing the above composite material of types (a) and (b) by grinding the oxides, melting, quenching, fine grinding, suspending in a binder, coating the fibres, winding, forming preforms, densifying by heating and compression and subjecting to crystal nucleation and growth. |
