Elektronische Vorrichtung und Verfahren zur Steuerung eines digitalen Signalprozessors

In an electronic system a central processing unit is tightly coupled with a digital signal processor which is implemented in RISC technology. In the system memory a sequence of function calls is stored which realizes a digital signal processing functionality. The carrying out of this sequence of function calls is triggered by the central processing unit in response to a special command word. Prior to the execution of this sequence of DSP functions, the system is initialized by the CPU so that when a function is to be carried out the appropriate pointer and coefficient information is present for the digital signal processor. This has the advantage that the programming of the system is greatly simplified and that the central processing unit and the digital signal processor can work in parallel.
