A feeding and loading mechanism 10 pulls carton side-seam-sealed blanks 62 alternately from two oppositely disposed pairs of magazines (40-46), opens the same into tubes, and loads the latter onto oppositely disposed pairs of mandrels (48-54) of respective indexing turrets 56 and 58 on a liquid-carrying container forming, filling, and sealing machine. The feeding and loading mechanism 10 includes a slidably mounted carrier 14 having pairs of sets of vacuum cups (20-26) mounted at respective ends thereof aligned with the oppositely disposed pairs of magazines (40-46), a forming shoe (28-34) fixedly secured between each magazine (40-46) and the adjacent mandrel (48-54) for opening each tubular flat side-seam-sealed blank 62 into a tube as the blank 62 moves therepast, a loading finger (128-140) for loading each tube onto the respective mandrel (48-54), and a drive assembly 12 operatively connected to the carrier 14 for reciprocally moving the same to remove blanks 62 alternately from the oppositely disposed magazines (40-46) to process the same alternately.
