Zusammenfassung:	A process for the manufacture of linear alpha-olefins which comprises oligomerizing an unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon in an inert organic solvent in the presence of a catalyst mixture comprising titanium aryl/alkyl oxide, organoaluminum halide with or without an additive selected from a group containing phosphorus, oxygen or a sulphur compound at ambient or slightly elevated temperature and at a pressure which is sufficient to maintain the solubility of the said unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon feed and to prevent formation of branched products to produce the desired linear alpha-olefins having a narrow molecular weight distribution.
