Zusammenfassung:	Purification of bisphenol-A by separating contaminants associated with the compound when prepd. by the condensation of phenol with acetone in the presence of an acid catalyst, comprises: (a) melting the contaminated bisphenol-A cpd. in an aq. mixt.; (b) crystallising bisphenol-A from the aq. mixt.; (c) separating the crystals from the resulting aq. mixt.; (d) washing the crystals with water at a temp. of from 35 o.C to below the melting pt. of the crystals. Also claimed are: (i) removal of contaminants associated with bisphenol-A; (ii) removal of by-prod. contaminants produced during bisphenol-A prepn.; and (iii) apparatus for removal of by-prod. contaminants from bisphenol-A.
