Zusammenfassung:	The subject of the invention is a device for positioning sheet-metal plates (2, 3) in an installation for continuously butt-welding the said sheet-metal plates (2, 3) by means of a laser beam. The device comprises, on the one hand, a transfer table formed by an alternation of ball-type rails (11) and of strips (12) provided with uniformly spaced-apart projecting studs (13) and, on the other hand, friction members (15) intended to bear on the upper face of the sheet-metal plates (2, 3) and to impart to the said sheet-metal plates a translational movement substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel of the sheet-metal plates (2, 3).
