The system allows an existing table to be read as table data by the position beam (9) of a printer (8) of a word processor, or a table to be read by an image input unit such as an image scanner or created using a keyboard. The read or created table data is converted into code data (bc) which is stored in a memory (20). When the stored code data is subsequently read from the memory, the corresponding table can be displayed on an LCD unit (22,23), and the user can enter desired data in the displayed table. Thereafter, the entered data can be printed in cells of the table .
