Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to hypertonic crystalloid resuscitation fluids particularly useful in treating hemorrhagic shock. A pharmaceutical formulation prepared and selected ratios of sodium chloride and sodium acetate with a total osmolar concentration exceeding 500 mOsm can be used as a small volume resuscitation fluid which has little effect on plasma chloride levels. Arterial pressure is improved to the point of sustaining oxygen supply to tissues and organs with a significant increase in oxygen delivery and consumption.
