Zusammenfassung:	A process for producing formed active coke to be used in an apparatus for treating various stack gases and the like, which comprises reacting a dry formed active coke produced from coal with SO3 at 100 to 300 DEG C, followed by the heat treatment in an inert atmosphere at 300 to 600 DEG C. The coke is suitably used in a moving-bed desulfurization and denitrification apparatus, because it is excellent in not only the resistances to pressure, wearing and impact but also desulfurization and denitrification performances. Since it has, in particular, a high denitrification performance, it is suitable for the denitrification of stack gas generated from a fluidized-bed boiler or cogenerated stack gas containing a reduced amount of SOx.
