In a preferred embodiment, the compound has the formula: wherein: R is hydrogen; a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms; or a carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring of 5 to 10 atoms; and D is a monovalent, nonionic, nonquenching moiety. h
