A mobile phone (1) hangs on a neck strap (3) so that the microphone above the loudspeaker (13) in the upper part (12) faces upwards. The phone has a keypad (14) with multifunction key pushing which either answers a call or cyclically calls numbers in a preset list with automatic recalling if engaged or a number selected by the number of key presses. Independent claims are included for; (1) accepting remote surveillance calls from preset numbers with the loudspeaker off; (2) the provision of extra keys on the rear face and for remote battery charge warning transmission; and (3) provision of a base station which communicates with the phone when separated and charges the phone battery when placed on the base unit.
