An independent multilink suspension (1) for a wheel (2) of a commercial motor vehicle, in which an upright (6) carries a stub axle of the wheel (2) articulated thereto and is connected to the vehicle chassis (4) by means of a pair of upper transverse rods (8a,8b), a lower triangle (9), an upper longitudinal rod (30) and an air spring (10) interposed between said upright (6) and a side member (5) of the chassis (4); the air spring (10) is disposed substantially beneath the side member (5) so as to reduce the torques acting thereon, and it is mounted directly on the upright (6) so as to define a unitary ratio between the load on the wheel (2) and the load on the air spring (10). The upper transverse rods (8a,8b) are disposed in such a way as to reduce the torques acting on the side member (5).
