Zusammenfassung:	A method of providing a plastic carrier device (1), such as a bottle crate, in which a transponder (2) is accommodated comprises the steps of accommodating the transponder (2) in a casing (3) so as to form a transponder unit (5), producing the carrier device (1) from a plastic material, providing a cavity (6) in the carrier device, and inserting the transponder unit (5) in the cavity (6). According to the invention, the transponder unit (5) is dimensioned so to as fit tightly in the cavity (6), and is inserted in said cavity (6) while the carrier device (1) is warm. Preferably, the carrier device is injection moulded and the transponder unit (5) is inserted immediately after the moulding process, before the carrier device has cooled down.
