Zusammenfassung:	Ink set for ink jet recording forming overlapping images comprises aqueous ink (1) having at least two color tones, and another ink (2) containing a colorant (B) and a tertiary ammonium salt having 6C or less alkyl comprising at least one hydroxide group. One of the inks contains a colorant (A) having anionic groups. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an ink jet recording method using the ink set; (2) a recording cartridge using the ink; and (3) an ink jet recording apparatus using the ink set and the cartridge.
