Zusammenfassung:	The invention is a method of forming a conversion coating on an aluminium surface. According to the method, the aluminium surface is conversion coated by first treating the surface by thermal degreasing or aqueous alkaline degreasing and then spraying the treated surface with an aqueous solution of KF. The concentration of KF in the solution is 0.5-15.0 wt. % and the temperature is 90-212 DEG F. The solution is sprayed on the aluminium surface for at least 5 seconds at a pressure of 5-50 psi. The conversion coating formed on the aluminium surface consists essentially of: (a) substantially all K3AlF6 or (b) a mixture comprising a major proportion of K3AlF6 and a minor proportion of KAlF4
