Zusammenfassung:	For multi-stage anaerobic microbial decomposition of organic substrates, such as industrial or agricultural waste water, a reactor housing (A) has two or more discs (B) with an elastic absorbent growth carrier on a perforated hollow shaft (D), through which waste water is supplied, and rotated in opposite directions by a suitable drive. Up to half of the discs dips into the liquid substrate and squeezing rolls (F) between the discs squeeze the carrier when a first disc emerges while the opposing disc absorbs the squeezed-out substrate while the first disc is immersed to absorb substrate.
