Zusammenfassung:	The drive unit has a housing (1) defining an internal space (4) divided into two working chambers (7,7') by a movable piston (6), each chamber coupled to fluid channels (16) for supply or extraction of the working fluid, to control the piston movement. Two pairs of 2/2-way valves (24,24'; 25,25') are used to control the supply and extraction of fluid to and from the working chambers, each valve having an electrically-activated actuator, e.g. a piezoelectric, magnetostrictive, or optopneumatic element, for providing the valve drive (26).
