The shelves are strengthened by reinforcement means in two vertical planes at right angles to each other. The material articles (24) extend a certain distance over the front edges (19) of the shelves.Stops (23) or back walls for the articles are allocated to the rear edge of the shelf bases (7) and a projection (21) on one of the sides of the shelf bases projects a predetermined amount in the horizontal direction into the space in front of the front edges (19) in a plane running across the front edges.
