Zusammenfassung: | To weld studs of essentially annular cross-section by arc welding according to the drawn-arc principle, a stud holder 1 is surrounded by an electromagnetic coil 5, the magnetic field of which is fed to the welding gap via a flux-directing part 6, 7 in such a way that a magnetic-field component running radially to the stud 4 is formed in the welding gap. This field component exerts a force acting on the arc in the peripheral direction so that the hollow stud 4 is reliably welded to the workpiece 2 over its entire annular cross-section. To minimize exciting of the workpiece 2 with the magnetic field produced by the coil 5, the flux-directing part is provided with a frustoconical field former 7, the extended generating line of which points to the weld location 8, so that the pole face 9 formed at the tip of the field former 7 narrowly encloses the welding gap. |
