Zusammenfassung:A diecasting machine has at least one device, fitted directly to the cylinder, to measure the volume of the metal melt and control the movement of the ram. The volume measuring device (12, 13) is pref. an ultrasound (12) or a microwave (13) impulse duration measurement system which measures the height of the metal in the cylinder, i.e. in the die. Sensor (13) is set into the cylinder wall and consists of transmitting and receiving elements. The aerial (21) has a cross-coupling device which decouples a portion of the reflected signal. The measurement device works onto the principle of the Doppler shift effect.
