Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a device for detecting and measuring oxidisable gases, in particular H2, CO and CH4 in industrial systems, the device having at least one metal oxide element operated at different selectively active temperatures and having an electrical heating system, for example a single-part or multiple-part layer sensor comprising SnO2, and the device having an electrical signal-formation unit specifying the gas conditions, which unit detects and outputs, for example, the individual concentrations of the oxidisable gases, their ratios and, in particular, their variation coefficients, and the metal oxide elements having a gas-influencing cover layer (26, 29) which covers all or part of their surface and, in particular, influences the diffusion of the oxidisable and other gases to the metal oxide with an intentional effect.
