Multiplier for real and complex numbers e.g. for signal processor in audio and video demodulation

The multiplier provides a partial product field from two number values (Z1,Z2) supplied to respective data inputs (D1,D2), the product obtained as a third number value at a data output (D3).Each data input is divided into two sections (S1,S2;S3,S4) covering respective halves of each number value. The corresponding and opposing sections combine to provide four partial product fields. The data input ranges are supplied differently when the multiplier is switched between multiplication of real numbers and multiplication of complex numbers with real and imaginary parts supplied respectively to the different data input sections.
