Optoelectronic device for recording traffic

For the purpose of recording traffic on a defined section of a road (street) by means of an optoelectronic sensor (1), said sensor subdivides the section of the road in terms of data acquisition into at least two zones (I, II, III) which lie one behind the other in the direction of travel. The signals, obtained in the evaluation unit from the different zones (I, II, III), are investigated as to whether they show any correlation and can thus be assigned to a vehicle (5) which has travelled through the zones (I, II, III) which lie one behind the other. By means of an optoelectronic device of this type, traffic recording can be carried out which manages without interfering with the road pavement and makes available at least the same information as conventional induction loops, it being possible for additional useful information, possibly depending on the event, to be transmitted.
