The copy (4) lies on a folding table (8) with a longitudinal central slot. A crankshaft (2) is arranged beneath the folding table and along the slot and can be driven to execute a rotary movement around a central rotation axis (23) parallel to the movement direction of the copy. A folding cylinder (1) with a radius and a cover surface (S) has a folding clamp, which is radially fitted on the surface (S) and extends along its cover line. The cylinder is rotatable around its geometrical central axis (22) is so fitted to the crankshaft (2) that the geometrical central axis (22) runs parallel to the central rotation axis (23) of the crankshaft (2) at a distance corresp. to the radius. USE - To effect a quarter fold of sheets of paper in connection with a rotary printing machine.
