KRAFTSTOFFEINSPRITZANLAGE MIT GEMEINSAMER DRUCKLEITUNG

A common rail fuel injection system for an I.C. engine consists primarily of a high-pressure piston pump (224 or 226), nozzles (40, 42, 44 or 52, 54, 56), and a corresponding rail (28 or 30) held at a substantially constant pressure and connected between the fuel pump and the nozzles. An electronic...

Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:A common rail fuel injection system for an I.C. engine consists primarily of a high-pressure piston pump (224 or 226), nozzles (40, 42, 44 or 52, 54, 56), and a corresponding rail (28 or 30) held at a substantially constant pressure and connected between the fuel pump and the nozzles. An electronic system 10 controls the nozzles and an inlet fuel pressure valve 274 controlling the supply of fuel to the pump. Fuel flows from the valve 274 past an inlet ball valve 237 urged to its closed position by a spring 245 when the pressure differential is sufficient and an inlet port 238 is exposed by the piston 234 during its suction stroke. Control valve 274 may be of the variable or fixed orifice type. Fuel leaking past the piston 234 and fuel collected from the nozzles is received in an accumulator chamber 264 and fed into the pumping chamber 232 during each suction stroke. Thus the total amount of fuel pumped is reduced and metering accuracy improved.
