Zusammenfassung:Recycling waste from crosslinked polymeric materials, e.g. elastomers or duromers, comprises subjecting the materials at a temp. in the region of the original crosslinking temps. to mechanical shearing and pressure. Appts. for carrying out the process is also claimed. The appts. comprises a kneader having breaking elements for shearing the waste to treatable material, which is then heated to 600 deg.C and then cooled to less than 100 deg.C. ADVANTAGE - The waste can be decomposed to low mol. wt. prods. and then converted into gases.
