Zusammenfassung:The window (1) shielding e.g. a CCD imaging camera matches the curvature of the lens (3) and is vibrated by an annular piezoceramic element (2) bonded e.g. by epoxy resin to the outer surface of its tubular portion sealed (7) into a capsule (6). Capillary waves (4) are excited in a film of liq. contg. alcohol or similar detergent sprayed on to the convex surface from an annular nozzle (5). The liq. is atomised and any contaminant particles are dislodged from the surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - In an optical imaging or radar system, esp. on a vehicle, an inexpensive and reliable low-voltage appts. avoids heating of the piezoelectric resonator element.
