Water based non-toxic paints for finger painting - contg. polyvinyl alcohol, glycerine, mineral thickener, non-toxic pigment and preservative

Finger-painting paints comprised of Ca, 80 wt. % water, 8 wt. % polyvinyl alcohol, 7 wt. % glycerin, 2 wt. % mineral thickener, 2 wt. % heavy metal-free colour pigment and 0.1 wt. % preservative. Pref. the polyvinyl alcohol has a degree of saponification of ca. 80 mol. % an ester value of 140 mg KOH/g, a residual acetyl content of cva. 10% (m/m) and a viscosity in 4% aq. soln. at 20 deg.C of ca. 8 mPas. The mineral thickener consists e.g. of 60% Si02 and 30% Mn02. The preservative is e.g. a mixt. of 1 pt. propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate and 4 pts. methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate. The glycerin is pref. of 99.5% purity complying with DAB 9. The pigments are pref. of cosmetic grade complying with European Standard EN 71 part 31. USE/ADVANTAGE - The paints are water-based and non-toxic, can be applied easily to smooth surfaces, dry to light-fast elastic films with a high gloss, can be washed out of textiles with water, and can be scrapped off and dissolved in water.
