Zusammenfassung:The impact protection system has an inflatable airbag stored behind the dashboard. The airbag is concealed by a cover (5) and a linkage element (7) has a bending point (10) at the end secured to the vehicle (18). The linkage element has a trough-shaped section (11) adjacent the bending point. The shape of the trough is such that as the airbag inflates the cover opens with a clearance gap around the edge (12) of dashboard. ADVANTAGE - Avoids any damage to the dashboard as the cover swivels outwards.
