Zusammenfassung:(A) In the continuous processing of a water-contg. and esp. salt-contg. oil sludge stream, the heated stream is heated in a three-phase decanter for solids removal and for sepn. into a water stream with residual oil and an oil stream with residual water and the latter stream is sepd. in a distillation column into an oil stream and an water stream with low boiling hydrocarbons. Part of the hot oil stream from the distillation column (3) is mixed with the oil sludge stream in an equilibrator (1), so that the oil phase has practically homogeneous temp. and viscosity, and the mixed stream is supplied at 60-100 deg.C. from the equilibrator (1) to the decanter (2). A plant for carrying out the above process is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful for processing oil sludges recovered from formations associated with salt-contg. formation water or recovered from oil spills at sea. It operates reliably, ensures problem-free heat transfer to the oil sludge stream and is simple and inexpensive.
