Sequentially operated washing installation for motor vehicle headlamps - ensures by reversal of rotary pump that one lamp is cleaned before other one is addressed

For washing vehicle headlamps, a reversible electric pump (1) draws the washing liq. (2) through a single tube (3) from a reservoir (4), and delivers it via one of two outlets (5,6) to one of the nozzles (7,8) situated immediately in front of the headlamp glasses (9,10). Wires (11,12) to the pump (1) are energised positively and earthed in turn so that one headlamp (9 or 10) alone is washed and its washing is terminated before the pump (1) is reversed for the provision of liquid to the other headlamp (10 or 9) in its stead. ADVANTAGE - Sufficient illumination of road ahead is guaranteed while headlamps are being washed.
